The peacock is a beautiful bird which has become a symbol of rebirth, immortality and hope for many cultures. Its beautiful unfurled tail symbolised perfection in the ancient cultures of the Far East or in Ancient Greece. During the Middle Ages, it was also used as a symbol of grandeur and exceptionality. The peacock’s veil-like tail is most beautiful in spring, when the bird regularly replaces its feathers so that they are full of fresh colours and shine. For this reason too, the peacock is currently designated as a symbol of spring. (Catalogue Nr 075880)
