A "magnificent set" of Gorham spoons in "The No. 18 Pattern" — all
12 spoons in their original velvet teal colored box (blue satin inside and velvet teal outside with the ame of the jeweler in Houston, Texas. – J. L. Mitchell (= Jeremiah L. Mitchell). There is considerable information about J.L. Mitchell available on the internet (search under his name on google.).
These 12 spoons are pictured in the James Catalog (published in 1891) 54-55. (see attached pdf).
The Original Box. Interior satin = excellent condition; no tears (or rips) in the satin. Exterior of the box is covered with teal colored velvet which is worn on the edges. Hinges are original and are working fine as are the 2 gold clasps on the front of the top lid.
There is an” original tag” on the bottom of the box with “18-12 Coffee Spoons” (hand written) + other words (which I can not decipher).
Maker: Gorham. Sterling.
