The Campanian Society, Inc. is honored  to announce the publication of A COMPANION RESOURCE VOLUME and STUDENT TEXT/WORKBOOK related to readings from Vergil's Aeneid newly prescribed for the Advanced Placement Examination.

A COMPANION RESOURCE VOLUME provides a line-by-line commentary on Aeneid 10 (420-509) and Aeneid 12 (791-842, 887-952) incorporating grammar, syntax, imagery and interpretation. The commentary explicates the text for the teacher and provides relevant background and details which assist the appreciation and further exploration of the text. The Critical Bibliography offers a selective compilation of books, monographs and articles in English which shed light on Books 10 and 12, and which deal with the epic as a whole. "Classic" studies of the Aeneid are included with fresh assessments of the epic in order to expand the reader's understanding of political and social realities and of cultural contexts. The Teacher's Manual includes an essay on How to Write a Translation, pointers on Latin grammar and syntax, and tips on how to answer the "free response" section of the Advanced Placement Vergil Examination.

The STUDENT TEXT / WORKBOOK, designed for use by each student, provides text, vocabulary, and grammatical aids. A work unit on the dactylic hexameter is also included. This Student Text/Workbook is a valuable student asset where all class notes, resources and translations may be kept in a convenient and accessible format.
